Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress known for her role in the film Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Haiin Koun..! She started her career in early 1980s. Her role as Anil Kapoor in Tezaab made her incredibly well-known. Her next role was in Dil in which she starred alongside Aamir. She was born into an Mumbai middle-class family, and started dancing at a young age. She began acting when she was a youngster and struggled for a few years as most of her initial film projects were unsuccessful. Then she found her feet and was one of the top actresses in the Indian film industry. After her marriage, she took an interruption in her career. Later, she returned. Dixit played an important role on Gulaab Gang, a film focused on women's struggles in India. Dixit is nominated to win 15 Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit. It is the fourth-highest civil honour in India. Her name is well-known for her social works as well.
